New Online Permitting, Plan Review System Launched In Hillsborough

The new system will save homeowners a trip to the Municipal Building.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Township launched a new online permitting and plan review system that will save homeowners a trip to the Municipal Building.

The new system, which is accessed through the SDL portal on the Township website, will streamline the building permit process by cutting down on paper usage and storage. The
new process will also decrease office visits and phone calls and save time by offering online
payments.

"The new permitting and plan review system is being paid for by a grant from the American Rescue Plan and comes at no cost to taxpayers," said Mayor Robert Britting, Jr. at the Sept. 24 Township Committee meeting.

The platform currently hosts eight types of permit application templates and allows homeowners to upload their permit applications from home.

"Hillsborough Township is the first town in the area to offer online permitting and plan review services," said Construction Official John Fiedler. "Our goal is to offer 80 percent of permitting to be submitted online."
