HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A pedestrian bridge along Route 206 has reopened following a more than a year closure for safety issues.

The new bridge over the Royce Brook between Raider Boulevard and Amwell Road, which serves as a sidewalk along Route 206, was installed on Wednesday, Hillsborough Mayor Catherine Payne said.

"She is aluminum. She is 81 feet long. This is a huge endeavor and a beautiful bridge in the making," said Payne.

The bridge closed in February 2025 after former Mayor John Ciccarelli said it was inspected and found to have corroded steel.

"For safety, the Township unfortunately closed the bridge to pedestrian access," said Ciccarelli.
