Roy Freiman Elected Chairman Of The Hillsborough Democratic Organization

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Roy Freiman was elected Chairman of the Hillsborough Democratic Organization (HDO) on Wednesday night, receiving 70 percent of the votes cast in a special election.

The election was held following the resignation of former Chair Michele Kidd, who announced her decision to step down on Jan. 7. Chairman Freiman will serve the remainder of the unexpired term through June 2026.

Hillsborough Township Committee Members Samantha Hand and Jill Gomez, and Somerset County Commissioner Paul Drake issued a joint statement expressing their full support for Chairman Freiman and confidence in his leadership, citing his experience, collaborative approach, and commitment to Democratic values.

"Roy Freiman brings proven leadership and a deep understanding of both local and state issues," said Hand, Gomez, and Drake. "We are confident he will continue to strengthen the Hillsborough Democratic Organization and help move our community forward."

In addition to his role as HDO Chair, Freiman serves as Assemblyman for New Jersey’s 16th Legislative District. He currently chairs the Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, is a member of the Assembly Budget Committee, and previously served as Chair of the Assembly Agriculture and Food Security Committee.
