Somerset Man Arrested For Armed Robbery Of Wawa Store

Cleon Jones Jr., 33, of Somerset went into a Wawa in North Brunswick with a gun and started stealing items off the shelves: Police.

SOMERSET, NJ — A Somerset man was arrested for an armed robbery of a Wawa Store in North Brunswick early Monday morning.

Cleon Jones Jr., 33, walked into the Wawa Store at Route 27 and Cozzens Lane around 1:15 a.m. and began stealing several items from throughout the store, North Brunswick Police reported.

Once confronted by employees, Jones Jr. pulled out a handgun and continued to take additional items, police said.

Jones Jr. then left the store on foot and fired at least two shots outside during the escape, police reported.

He was later arrested by police following an investigation by North Brunswick Police, with help from the Franklin Township and the Bound Brook Police Departments.

During the arrest, a handgun was recovered, police reported.

Jones was charged with multiple crimes, including robbery, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon unlawful purpose, and theft.

He has been remanded to the Middlesex County Department of Corrections pending a court appearance.

There were no injuries reported during this incident.
