Tentative Contract Reached For Hillsborough Teachers, Staff

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A tentative contract agreement for Hillsborough teachers and staff has been made between the Hillsborough Township Board of Education and Hillsborough Education Association.
The tentative contract includes a three-year agreement, beginning on July 1, 2016 and will run through June 30, 2019.
If the contract is ratified it will put to a bed negotiations that began back in January.

After five months of meetings an impasse was declared and as of Sept. 1, Hillsborough teachers and school staff had been working without a contract.
As a result the HEA had been organizing rallies outside negotiation sessions since July.

The Board of Education announced during the Oct. 10 meeting that the tentative contract was reached at the negotiation session on Oct. 4 that lasted so long it ran into Oct. 5.
Both the HBOE and the HEA must ratify the agreement before it can be approved.
The salary guide and any details of the agreement will not be made public until it is approved.
