What is Crossfit?

Chrono CrossFit has just opened on Monday the 23rd of September 2013, naturally I have been doing A LOT of marketing. Some people sign up, others ask about prices, location, hours etc. But almost all ask the same question: WHAT IS CROSSFIT?At first I attempted to answer the question with the routine speech trying to describe the workout. I went on and on about short, high intensity workouts, working out in a group, timed WODs (work out of the day), boxes (CrossFit Gyms), power lifting, Olympic lifting and so on. All those things are part of CrossFit but none really capture what it actually is. It did not convey the real essence of WHAT IT IS that makes this method of working out so popular and effective. I have spoken to many people who do CrossFit, or go to a CrossFit box to work out and came up this list. CrossFit:

Is Not about CrossFit. Hear me out on this. CrossFit affiliation is relatively easy to get if you own gym or a training studio. Which leads to a problem of every CrossFit gym being different from the other, some are good some are bad. That being said once you do find a good one you realize it’s NOT about CrossFit. It is about the Coaches that teach at that particular box. I want to emphasize the word TEACH, that is what we do. A good coach will help you with nutrition (which should be first on the list anyway), he will evaluate your needs, goals and wants and teach you how to get there. A good coach will listen to you and make sure that what you do during and after a workout helps you get to your goals in a best way possible. When I joined a CrossFit box , I thought its a workout program, very soon I realized that half the people there are not doing CrossFit, they are training. CrossFit is a gateway to a lifestyle that incorporates proper nutrition, exercise and life habits, once you realize that and embrace those 3 components you start making better decisions, have more energy and enjoy more of life!
 
Will make you wonder. At first it will make you question what is possible. Once you discover that a human body is capable of amazing things it will make you wonder. It will make you think of new heights to reach, new goals to beat, and new things to try. There is nothing more exhilarating than learning a new movement, reaching your goal or realizing you are a part of a dedicated community.

Will get you hooked. Mastering the ways to live healthy, increase your energy, shape your body, have fun and improve your life is addictive. You start to realize that nothing is impossible.

I hope that this blog post will make people realize that there is no fitness goal that is impossible to reach.
