2 Dessert Shops To Replace 2 Restaurants That Closed In Downtown Hoboken

One dessert shop will open in Hoboken next week, and the other (which will serve shakes, donuts, and burgers) will open later in fall.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken is anything but a food desert. Although a downtown Indian restaurant and a creative "pizza lab" both closed this year, they're both being replaced by shops serving unique sweets.

The Hoboken outpost of Boomerang Bites, which started in Jersey City, will soft open in the mile-square city next week, the eatery posted on Instagram on Monday.

"We are a women-owned artisanal bakery that makes delicious bites packed with flavor and wholesome goodness," the owners say on the website. "Our one-of-a-kind recipes are based on traditional Aussie ‘slices’ and make the perfect treat, dessert or gift." See their flavors here.

They're replacing the Madison Pizza Lab at 152 Newark St. (Why did it close? Find out here.)

Meanwhile, Dipped 'N' Smashed will replace the Indian street food restaurant Curry Up Now later this fall.

'Dipped' will actually serve more than just sweets. A sign in the window says you'll be able to build your own donuts, shakes, and burgers.

A worker at the store said they hope to open by the end of October. They're located at 91 Washington St.
