HOBOKEN, NJ — Three restaurants in Hoboken sent out emails on Friday saying they were temporarily closing, but many other eateries, stores, and services are still serving customers.

Alfalfa, a salad and dessert restaurant on Washington Street, sent an email Friday saying, "Although we have decided to close our doors until further notice, we remain positive that we'll be able to reunite with you soon." They encouraged customers to purchase a digital gift card on their website for friend, family, or themselves.

Also, Choc-O-Pain, a group of four French bakeries and cafes in Hoboken and Jersey City, wrote, "We have tried to delay this news as long as we could, but ... we have temporarily closed all of our locations. As much as this decision breaks our hearts, we need to put the safety and well-being of our staff, our guests, and our community first." On their website, they offered frozen pastries that had to be picked up by Tuesday. In their email they provided four Venmo ID's to donate to displaced employees at each location.

Northern Soul, a restaurant in the southwest corner of the city, said it would close for just a few days, starting this past Sunday "until next weekend." They wrote, "Since the virus hit we have been running at full force to stay open, but like every good Jedi we need a breather to reset the jets and, more importantly, do a deep clean of the ship." They encouraged patrons to order delivery directly from their website when they reopen this coming weekend.
