41 MPH Winds Predicted, 'Code Blue' Declared: Where To Get Heat In Hudson County

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Worried you might lose heat amid the cold snap? With wind gusts of up to 41 MPH predicted in Hudson County and low wind chills, the county has activated a "Code Blue" through this Saturday, Feb. 4.
In the Hudson County area, temperatures may drop as low as 9 degrees overnight into Saturday, with wind chills between -5 and 5 on Saturday.

'Code Blue' List
Almost every county in New Jersey has now activated "Code Blue" status. That means that free warming centers have been opened for people who need shelter from the cold — whether because of inadequate heating, power loss, or homelessness.

For Hudson County, most of the listed warming centers are in Jersey City and Bayonne, but people may also go to the Hoboken train station or North Bergen Town Hall at night for a shuttle to the centers (see the times on the website). Some centers are for adults only, some for families. The list is here (scroll down by county), and can be expanded. You can also call 211 or your town hall for help.
A Hazardous Weather Outlook for Hudson County says, "A dangerously cold air mass is expected to settle over the region Friday and Saturday. Wind chill values may fall to as low as 10 below zero during this time."
