Little Bar, Hoboken

How can you fit a bar/restaurant into a former poke bowl takeout joint? With a bit of ingenuity. The folks at the Halifax, a large restaurant that's part of Hoboken's W Hotel on the south waterfront, came up with an idea to start a small craft cocktail and seafood bar near the city's north waterfront. An intimate experience was born in Little Bar, which offers small seafood plates and appetizers with twists. Delicacies include maple smoked salmon and caviar. The mussels in escabeche are especially divine. Find out more here and see a photo above.

Cafe Basilico, Hillsborough

In Hillsborough, Cafe Basilico opened last month at 378 South Branch Road. They'll be focusing on their "elevated brunches" including eggs, frittatas, waffles and more. Check out photos of their French toast and frittatas here. They're also working on a mocktail menu. Read more here.

Grand Cubano, Englewood

The Grand Cubano, an upscale "Cuban inspired supper club," held its grand opening festivities this past weekend. The eatery boasts a full menu of traditional Cuban meat and poultry dishes, as well as appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. Main courses range from Ropa Vieja to churrasco to filet mignon. They're located at 11 Grand Ave. See the menu, as well as photos of the location, dishes, and cocktails, here. (And read more about Englewood's expanding restaurant scene here. If you're a fan of desserts, you might like the French sweet treat known as macarons. Woops! Maracrons and Gifts opened at the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall on the first day of fall, offering "a wide range of macaron flavors, including classic favorites and seasonal specials." What's more, "All Woops! Macarons are crafted with the finest French Valrhona chocolate, pure pistachio paste, authentic Italian Nutella, and more. Their main purpose is to ensure an indulgent experience in every bite." Is your mouth watering? Stop into the mall at 1 garden state Plaza Parkway. More information is here.

Livingston Bagel (Grand Reopening)

Livingston Bagel, which offers a variety of deli food and sandwiches, has been around since 1969. But they held a "grand reopening" this past weekend to celebrate their renovated space. If you're cruising through Livingston, you can stop into 37 East Northfield Road, especially if you're toy shopping nearby at Meyer's Dolls, Toys, and Hobbies for the holidays.
