50 Alleged Deadbeat Parents Arrested In Hudson County, NJ: Police
The suspects come from towns including Jersey City, Hoboken, Union City, West New York, Kearny, Guttenberg, North Bergen and East Orange.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Hudson County authorities have arrested 50 local parents who allegedly skipped out on massive amounts of child support payments, police announced Wednesday.
According to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, the suspects owed a total of $379,537 in child support. The four suspects on the list with the highest owed amounts were all from Jersey City, including Darrell Hargrove, 51, who topped the charts with child support arrearages of $117,504, Timothy Beckett, 46, who owed $51,080, Darrell Bates, 34, who owed $31,789, and Haraldgin Coopers, 31, who owed $24,028.
Authorities accomplished the arrests by cutting off the suspects’ food stamp benefits on hold, police said. When the alleged offenders appeared at the county welfare office to inquire about the benefits, police served the arrest warrants and took them into custody.

Other arrested suspects included residents of Hoboken, West New York, Kearny, Guttenberg, North Bergen and East Orange, authorities said. Charges in addition to the child support matters included conspiracy, theft by deception, violation of probation and failure to pay fines.
