"Mr. Gunter was arrested and processed on Sunday Oct. 9, 2022 without any of the stolen proceeds," police said Tuesday. "No weapons were produced during the commission of this robbery."
When asked where the money is, police said Tuesday that they still don't know.
Gunter was brought to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
Gunter was charged a little over a year ago with robbing the same bank (which is located a block from police headquarters and three blocks from the Hoboken train station).
In September 2021, Gunter was arrested for allegedly taking $18,000 on a Thursday afternoon.
In that case, police said they received a call after 3 p.m. that a man entered the Bank of America and placed a note saying, “this is a robbery give me money” near the plastic barrier of the teller’s desk. He was able to walk out with the money.
Police units were notified. Officers checked the underground train station three blocks away and asked PATH to halt the trains.
On the 33rd Street train, Det. Houghton located Everton, who matched the description and had a "large visible bulge from his waistband," police said at the time.
Everton also had been arrested for attempting to rob a different bank in the same area of Hoboken on July 30, 2021. READ MORE: NYC Man Tries To Rob Hoboken Bank Using Note, Police Say
Police reports in 2021 said Everton lived in New York City, but he was listed in this week's report as living in Hoboken.
A police spokesman said he will provide an update when the money is found.
