Alfalfa Restaurant In Hoboken Announces When Downtown Location Will Open
Hoboken's Alfalfa restaurant, known for its salads and donuts, announced its downtown location. See when it will open.
HOBOKEN, NJ — A small group of salad and donut restaurants with locations in Hoboken, Jersey City, and California announced Monday that they will open a new Hoboken location.
Alfalfa restaurant, which opened in the former Schnackenberg's Luncheonette in 2018, announced on social media on Monday, "We are SO thrilled to officially announce our fifth location opening right in the heart of where the Alfalfa story began in Downtown Hoboken, a space that was originally the Sobseys’ organic grocery store. Opening in late spring/early summer."
They added, "Stay tuned for more exciting announcements."

The business was founded by four men who grew up in Hoboken and attended St. Peter's Preparatory School in Jersey City. They opened a downtown Jersey City location on April 8 of last year. READ MORE: 4 Hoboken Friends From St. Peter's Prep To Open Eatery In Jersey City
Among the founders is Dan Sobsey, the son of Michael and Sohiela Sobsey, who ran the beloved produce store Sobsey's in Hoboken until they retired in 2017.

Now, that store, located at 92 Bloomfield St. near City Hall, will be home to the newest Alfalfa.
The restaurants offer a "balanced menu" of salads, breakfast burritos, coffees, other beverages, and donuts, as founder Andrew Arrospide put it last year.
"The owners' motto is joy through balance, and the menu very much reflects that," he noted.
