NORTH JERSEY — When fireworks explode over the Hudson River, residents of Hoboken, Jersey City, and Manhattan rush to social media to find out who's behind them.
This weekend, the answer may be: "Your mom."
The Moms for Liberty, a conservative-leaning organization, is hosting an event on Ellis Island on Sunday to celebrate America's 250th birthday and the fifth anniversary of the organization.
They're partnering with Glenn Beck and the American Journey Experience for the event, which will feature the island's exhibits and enjoy fine dining.
"Come explore the exhibits and galleries of this former immigration station and experience what over 12 million immigrants did between 1892 and 1954 in search of the American Dream," they wrote.
Tickets start at $1,500 each, or $15,000 per table. The party will feature commentators and authors Glenn Beck, David Barton, and Tim Barton.
A Heads-Up For Fireworks Season
Several other groups and companies will host events with fireworks this spring. SK Capital will host a boat ride and fireworks from Ellis Island on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.
In the past, residents along the Hudson River have asked officials for more of a heads up on the displays.
In November of 2021, New Yorkers reportedly filed complaints with city government after a round of firework caught them off guard. The display was eventually linked to a $1,250 a ticket gala event at the Javits Center, with then-Mayor Bill de Blasio as the guest of honor.
And people were perturbed in 2021 when fireworks went off a day after the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
