HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — U.S. marshals have announced a reward for the capture of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a North Bergen man in March.

As reported in Patch, Luis Marin, 57, of North Bergen is sought in connection with the fatal shooting of David Pulgarin, 42, on March 23, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Marin is wanted on charges of murder, certain persons not to have a weapon, and other weapons charges, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors had said that just after 1:50 a.m. on March 23, the Union City Police Department got a report of shots fired in the area of Bergenline Avenue and 44th Street.

Police Pulgarin with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2:30 a.m.

Marshals have offered a $5,000 reward for Marin's capture, releasing a new poster this week that says he also goes by the aliases Luis Alberto, Luis Hernandez, and Luis Rodriguez.

He's considered armed and dangerous, marshals said.

Fundraiser For Victim

Pulgarin's family started a GoFundMe in March for his pre-teen son.

The family also asked the community to stop sharing videos of the incident out of respect for the boy. Two videos circulated on social media of the confrontation and aftermath, apparently taken from nearby windows.

"Our intention is to protect the emotional well-being, privacy, and peace of his beloved son, who is navigating an immense loss. We truly appreciate your compassion, respect, and support," says the fundraiser.

Anyone with information on the suspect can contact the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force at 201-469-7703. All information can be confidential.
