NORTH JERSEY — Whenever fireworks explode over the Hudson River, residents of Hoboken, Jersey City, and Manhattan rush to social media to find out who's behind them.

This Saturday, at 11 p.m., fireworks were scheduled to be set off from Pier 60 over the Hudson River, although they came a bit early.

According to the city of New York, Tim Burns from Above All Events, an event planning company, had a permit for the display.

Pier 60 can be reserved for private events, such as weddings.

In the past, residents along the Hudson River have asked officials for more of a heads up on the displays.

In November of 2021, New Yorkers reportedly filed complaints with city government after a round of fireworks caught them off guard. The display was eventually linked to a $1,250 a ticket gala event at the Javits Center, with then-Mayor Bill de Blasio as the guest of honor.

And people were perturbed in 2021 when fireworks went off the day after the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

Residents have said that unexpected fireworks have caused their dogs to run out and awakened babies. READ MORE: Fireworks? Why? NYC/NJ Twitter Lights Up With Questions Again
