Hoboken City Council Takes Action on Noise Ordinance, Bar Hours for Special Events, + More (hobokengirl.com) β Hoboken's City Council has reversed its new amplified-sound permit rule for the uptown waterfront, voted down extended bar hours for major sporting events, and approved an $11.19 million bond for equipment and infrastructure. These moves will shape how loud nightlife can get near residential areas and how the city upgrades fire trucks, garbage trucks, facilities, and roads.

Lincoln-ready robot: an interview with one of L.I.N.C.'s creators (thestute.com) β A Hoboken-based team of Stevens Institute undergraduates has spent nearly two years building L.I.N.C., a robot designed to monitor Lincoln Tunnel catwalks for the Port Authority's College Challenge. Team member Dominic Souza describes how they engineered, tested, and refined the safety-focused robot, ultimately tying with New York Institute of Technology in the August 28 competition finale.
