HOBOKEN, NJ — After 39 years of selling and servicing bicycles in Hoboken, a beloved shop will leave the city at the end of the month — but they hope to return in spring.
Flo on Wheels, located on upper Washington Street, will be closing its storefront after Oct. 31.
After that, the shop will work out of its West New York location, which — owner Flo Martinez stressed — is just two miles away.
The shop will also continue is pledge to service bikes sold there for free. They are also known for reasonably priced upgrades and other options.
They will partner with a delivery service to pick up and deliver items as needed, Martinez said.
With more people using electric scooters and other types of cycles, the business is adjusting to a new landscape, the owners noted in a message to customers (see below).
They hope to find a larger space in Hoboken by spring.
Martinez told Patch on Thursday that their lease is up at the end of the month, and they would like a bigger space.

Flo On Wheels is entering a new era as we are reacting to a new business landscape. While the retail end of our business diminishes due to online competition, our service side is flourishing.
Our current location is too small to accommodate these changes.
Larger commuter bikes, cargo bikes, trikes, scooters are all great eco transportation tools which we would like to sell and service for our customers but can not do so in our current space.
We are temporarily moving to our second location in West New
York located at 604 60th St., which is four times bigger to better serve all of your needs.
Although it may seem far, it is less than three miles away from our Hoboken location, which has easy parking, 3.3125 percent sales tax, overhead door allows us to be able to bring in any car or SUV for car and ski rack installation also motorcycle service capability.
Specialized, Cannondale, Woom, Micro scooters, helmets, locks, and all of our great products will also be on display. Flo On Wheels has partnered with "LaLa Move" which can handle pickup and delivery to your doorstep. We have also added all new information and updates on our new website floonwheelscycles.com
Our lifetime free service will also be honored here, and if you notice on our product sticker, the West New York information has always been there.
We will be actively searching for a bigger location in Hoboken, in the meantime this move gives Flo On Wheels time to reset and execute an ambitious plan for the next chapter.

Martinez told Patch, "We will be actively shopping for a new location in Hoboken during the meantime as we are entering our new business era and taking the time to restructure and grow Flo On Wheels bigger and better then ever before."
LaLamove can pick up bikes for customers in Hoboken, Jersey City, Edgewater, Bayonne, Weehawken, Union City, and other areas, the shop noted.
