Volunteers met at Church Square Park, then spread out throughout Hoboken for the next two hours working on projects for various organizations serving our city.
“It’s a lot of fun. My wife and I walk by here almost every day. It’s fun to participate, young and old here in Hoboken,” said volunteer Eric Schmalzbauer. “We met some people that we wouldn’t have met otherwise.”

Participants painted curbs at intersections, cleaned public spaces, cleared driftwood, planted flowers and helped organize a local food pantry.
“It was awesome to see how dedicated and excited this year’s volunteers were to serve as part of 1Day,” says Chris High, Pastor of Hoboken Grace. “Hoboken Grace is constantly looking for opportunities to serve and give back to the community of Hoboken and we were able to do that in a big way today.”
This year, Hoboken Grace and the Hoboken community partnered to serve the Hoboken Housing Authority, the Jubilee Center, the In Jesus’ Name food pantry, the City of Hoboken, the public library and the Hoboken Shelter.
“To get this amount of help and the impact that it will have on what we’re doing, there are just no words,” said Sandra Huff, Education Coordinator and Fine Arts Director for Jubilee Center. “The painting makes the kids we serve feel like they aren’t getting second best and it helps them to work better.”
