Hoboken Woman Charged With Assault After Punching First Responders: Police

A woman was charged with terroristic threats after punching police and EMS workers after a taxi dispute in Hoboken, police say.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken police charged a Hoboken woman with three offenses after she punched first responders who were taking a report of a "taxi dispute," they said.

Linda Smith, 56, of Hoboken was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and resisting arrest on Tuesday, police said.

Police said that Officers Tyrone Huggins, Anthony Olivera, and Nickolas Protopapadakis responded to First and Hudson Streets, a few blocks from the Hoboken train station, around 4:15 p.m. after getting a report of a taxi dispute.

During the on-scene investigation, Linda Smith was identified as a "potential intoxicated unruly Lyft passenger," police said.

During her interaction with police and EMS, police said, "she assaulted them by punching and kicking them. Based on her actions she was placed under arrest."

The complaints were placed on a summons and she was released from custody after the arrest process was complete, police said.
