Justin Baldoni To Resume Filming 'It Ends With Us' In Hoboken After Shutdown
Hoboken will consider amending its ordinance regarding film production following a temporary filming shutdown for "It Ends With Us."
HOBOKEN, NJ — The crew of "It Ends With Us" stopped filming in Hoboken over a week ago, but will be back to filming this Friday, the city of Hoboken was told on Tuesday.
The film, based on Colleen Hoover's romance novel, stars Justin Baldoni (who is also directing) and Blake Lively.
The city said that due to concerns from neighbors about the effects of the filming — which had gobbled up parking for several blocks — the city will do a better job of keeping residents informed of movie production in the area, and ask for givebacks.

Even while the movie wasn't being filmed, "No Parking" signs were spotted around the production area, with the spaces left empty.
"The city was notified this morning of the production shutdown and was informed that production intends to resume on Friday," Hoboken city spokesperson Marilyn Baer told Patch on Tuesday.

She added, "Temporary 'No Parking' signs have been removed by the Hoboken Parking Utility to allow for parking. The administration is working to update ordinances pertaining to film shoots to require notification of all area residents of upcoming productions, parking and traffic impacts, revising fees and costs, among other amendments following quality of life concerns raised by residents."
One source said the temporary shutdown was due to illness, but Patch could not confirm this. Other reports said the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike halted production on several occasions.

A corner art gallery in Hoboken, which has been used as film sets before, was first transformed into a "dusty cafe" called Maya & Maxim. Then it was transformed into "Lily's Blooms," the main character's flower shop.
Fans of the book have been commenting on-line about Blake Lively's outfits, trying to determine if the character fits the image they had of her when reading the book. (See photo gallery above).
Filming has ramped up in Hoboken post-pandemic, with a number of movies and TV shows shot in the mile-square city since 2021.
The Field Colony art gallery was also transformed into an art gallery during the filming of "The Kill Room" a year ago. At the time, both Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson were spotted there. See photos here.
