Man Shot To Death In Jersey City Tuesday Night: Prosecutor

A Bergen County man, 23, was shot to death in Jersey City Tuesday night. The shooter is at large, prosecutors said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 23-year-old Bergen County man was shot to death on Dales Avenue in Jersey City on Tuesday night, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said. The shooter is still at large.

Prosecutors said that at 9:05 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired on Dales Avenue. They found Jovahn Horne, 23, of Tenafly in the area of 74 Dales Ave. with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was brought to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:41 p.m., prosecutors said.

No arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning, prosecutors said.

Of the 24 homicides in Jersey City in 2021, half were young men ages 16-27. Two of the others in the city were domestic violence killings of women.
