SUV Swallowed In Monster Sinkhole in N.J. After Water Main Break

A large water main break has flooded the streets of a New Jersey town, and a car has disappeared in the hole, authorities said.

A massive sinkhole swallowed an SUV Tuesday after a 12-inch water main break flooded streets in a New Jersey community, authorities said.

The red SUV was muddied as it was pulled out from the Willow Avenue sinkhole between Fifth and Sixth avenues in Hoboken around 7:30 a.m. It had apparently been submerged soon after the water break, according to NBC4 New York.

The utility company, Suez, said it was investigating the break, and said no customers were without water by 9:30 a.m. Repairs were expected to be completed by early afternoon.
