The accident happened around 3:23 p.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike - Hudson County Extension westbound, near Interchange 14C - Toll Plaza in Jersey City, according to officials.
The middle of the plaza was blocked.

Tim O’Donnell, 48, of Bayonne was slowing down near a toll plaza when his car was struck from behind by a car driven by Scott Hahn, 36, of Hamilton.
O’Donnell’s car went through the tolls and into the eastbound lane, where it was then struck by a vehicle driven by Eliasar Morales, 51, of Bayonne, authorities aid.
O’Donnell was pronounced dead at the scene; Bridget O’Donnell, his 5-year-old daughter, died later at Jersey City Medical Center, authorities said. Hahn was hospitalized Monday and Tuesday while Morales was treated for minor injuries.
State police said the person was pronounced dead after the an apparent head-on collision just near the toll booths, according to WNBC-TV.
NBC 4 footage from the scene shows a van that appears to belong to a health care company and a badly-mangled car, according to the report.
Officials with Care Point, the company that owns the van, said that the car was carrying the victim who died. State police said there were multiple injuries, and patients were being transported to Jersey City Medical Center, according to the report.
