Hoboken to allow payment of certain 'nuisance' penalties without court appearances (hudsoncountyview.com) — Hoboken residents who get certain trash or recycling "nuisance" tickets will now be able to just pay the fine instead of going to court for their first two offenses, after a unanimous City Council vote. The council also adjusted permit and metered parking on parts of Jefferson and Madison streets to better match nearby land use and recent sewer upgrades.
   

4. 'Cake Boss' To Host Event At 100th Hoboken Italian Festival Next Week (patch.com) — Hoboken's 100th Madonna dei Martiri Italian Festival takes over the south waterfront next Thursday through Sunday, with food, games, live music, and a new waterfront drone show instead of fireworks. Carlo's Bakery owner and TV "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro will host a ticketed VIP dessert experience, giving locals a chance to sample favorite pastries while celebrating a century-old neighborhood tradition.
   

5. Hoboken intros ordinance to allow bars early openings for 'major sporting events' (hudsoncountyview.com) — Hoboken officials are weighing an ordinance that would let the mayor's administration temporarily extend bar hours for major sporting events, including early-morning NFL games, instead of requiring repeated council votes. Supporters say the change streamlines support for local bars, while skeptics worry about early noise, outdoor TVs, and a gradual expansion of special hours that could affect nearby residents' quality of life.
