Can’t Get Job Because Of Criminal Record? Hoboken Clinic May Help

Hoboken city officials will hold a free clinic on the expungement process, which can help low-level criminal offenders clear their records.

HOBOKEN, NJ — On Tuesday, Nov. 20, Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla will host an expungement clinic with Hoboken’s Chief Public Defender Katey Theurer, and Chief of Constituent Affairs Caroline Caulfield.

The clinic will held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at 221 Jackson Street (Monroe Gardens).

According to a news release from city officials, in September, Bhalla and Caulfield met with Hoboken’s “Westside Women,” an organization comprised of mothers living in and around the Hoboken Housing Authority. During the meeting, Westside Women members said that low-level criminal offenses often serve as an obstacle for many young people in their community who seek to obtain gainful employment.
