Check Out Features Of Just-Opened Resiliency Park In Hoboken (PHOTOS)
It's got chairs to lounge in, a playground, a sprinkler, and more. An opening celebration for Hoboken's new park will be held in late June.
HOBOKEN, NJ — The former Northwest Park in Hoboken is now reopened, and visitors are free to sit in the long chairs, dart through the sprinklers, or run atop the rolling log without falling.
Officials and students cut the ribbon Monday morning for the newly renovated 5-acre ResilienCity Park. The city will hold a day of activities to celebrate the opening later this month (see schedule below).
Besides athletic fields, the newly open section of the park has gym equipment, a playground, a sprinkler, and Adirondack chairs. See the photo gallery above.

It also has garden features to hold up to 2 million gallons of rainwater, something sorely needed in the flood-prone mile-square city.
The final phase of the park, Terrace Pavilion, will include restrooms, a community room. and a cafe run by Alessio's. It will open in fall.

The city will host a celebration on Saturday, June 24, to commemorate the park’s grand opening. The following is the schedule of activities:
- 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. - MLB Play Ball Clinics; for residents ages 5 to 12 years old
- 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.- Brooklyn Nets Youth Training Clinics; for residents ages 5 to 12 years old
- 12:30 p.m. - Cheer Dynamics showcase
- 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. -NJ Devils Ball Hockey Clinic for residents ages 5 to 12 years old
ResilienCity Park was funded in part by a $10 million grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Building Resilient Infrastructure in Communities (BRIC) program.
