Chip City Cookie Shop In Hoboken, Next To Shake Shack, Gets Opening Date

Chip City cookies recently received $10M from Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer. Now the two stores will be next to each other in Hoboken.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The long-awaited Chip City cookie shop, located in Hoboken next to Shake Shack, is finally opening in Hoboken on Friday, Feb. 24, the owners said.

The franchise, based in New York City, has 15 locations, including one that opened last month in Newark.

Chip City Hoboken will celebrate the grand open at 113 Washington St. on Friday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. The location is a walk of about five blocks from the Hoboken train terminal.

The franchise began in Astoria, Queens in 2017 when childhood friends Peter Phillips and Teddy Gailas challenged each other on who could make the best cookie.

Most recently, Chip City received a $10 million investment by Shake Shack founder, Danny Meyer.

Now, Chip City is expanding for the first time out of its home market into New Jersey. A Ridgewood location will also open this month.

The shop specializes in their thick, fresh baked "core cookies" such as chocolate chip, cookies 'n' cream, and dairy-free chocolate chip.

They also rotate specials like sweet potato s'mores and blueberry cheesecake.
