Chocolate Chip Cookie Day: Hoboken Shop Named Best Cookies In NJ

HOBOKEN, NJ — As you celebrate National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day on Wednesday, a small-batch bake shop near the Hoboken Train Terminal is celebrating the fact that Yelp said they have the best chocolate chip cookies in New Jersey. And they ship them, too.

Baking Mama, at 88 Hudson St., a block from the train station, made the top of the list for New Jersey.

Owner Tina Rivera grew up in the Philippines and now lives in Hoboken with her family.

"I was working in a bank and the pregnancy downtime [in 1994] provided me with the opportunity to learn something new," she wrote on the store website. "In this case, baking. I got hooked."

Her slim storefront serves up fresh-baked cookies, macarons, cupcakes, and other cakes each day. Without a large PR machine, they have managed to garner lots of enthusiasm from customers.

Yelp released its list of the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies In Each State on July 22.

"National Cookie Day is right around the corner on Aug. 4," Yelp proclaimed. "But why wait? We think anytime is a great time to celebrate those sweet, round, slightly greasy baked treats!"

Yelp also named these shops in nearby states:

Rivera said this week, "Expect more cookies from Baking Mama. We will soon be accepting orders for shipping within the U.S. We will soon be reviving our Macaron Making Class."
