Coastal Flood Advisory Issued For Hudson County

HUDSON COUNTY — Despite a lack of rain in the Hudson County area recently, not to mention a statewide drought, the National Weather Service issued a statement Wednesday saying there's a potential for flooding near water in three New Jersey counties on Thursday nights.

In Hudson County, the forecast calls for "scattered showers" Thursday.

Accuweather radar shows scattered storms throughout states southwest of New Jersey that could be heading toward the Garden State.

High tide in the Hoboken area will be 8:58 p.m. Thursday.

  • The flood advisory for Thursday, Aug. 11 runs from 7 p.m. to midnight.

The NWS says that in Hudson, eastern Essex, and eastern Union counties, "Minor flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline Thursday Night, with up to 1 1/2 feet of inundation [flooding] above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas."

"Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding."
