COVID In Hudson County: This Week's Numbers And Trends

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey's COVID hospitalization numbers continue to decline since the holidays, but are still higher than this past fall.
In New Jersey as of Friday, Feb. 4, the state's 71 hospitals said they were treating 2,409 patients who tested positive for COVID. Of those patients, 294 were on ventilators.
Those numbers are nearly half of what was reported two weeks ago. On Friday, Jan. 21, the state's 71 hospitals reported that they were treating 4,826 COVID positive patients. At the time, 511 patients were getting breathing help from a ventilator.

For comparison, back in September, 124 people were on ventilators in New Jersey hospitals.

In Hudson County on Friday, Feb. 4, Hudson County reported a cumulative 2,416 confirmed COVID deaths since the start of the pandemic. This is up from 2,327 on Friday, Jan. 21, meaning there have been 89 COVID deaths in Hudson County in the last two weeks.
Among them, two deaths were reported in Hoboken: a man in his late 30s and one in his 80s. READ MORE: 2 More COVID Deaths In Hoboken
On Friday, Jan. 21, the COVID death toll was 2,327, up 42 from the previous week. On Friday, Jan. 14, the total Hudson County death toll had been 2,285, up by 59 residents since the previous week.
Thus, the death rate per week is declining.
In New Jersey on Friday, two hospital emergency rooms were on "divert status" due either to patient volume or staff being out sick, down from four for several weeks last month.

New Jersey health officials have launched a website where people can search for COVID-19 testing facilities near them or across the state. Users are advised to double check the accuracy of the hours, and eligibility, by calling the site before heading over. Go to the site here.
