HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police charged a 30-year-old Jersey City resident with driving while intoxicated after he allegedly hit a marked police car early Monday morning.

According to the Hoboken Police Department, Angel Candelaria was driving with a suspended license when he hit a marked cop car with his 2004 Honda around 12:12 a.m. near the 100-block of Hudson Place.

A pair of Hoboken officers were in the area clearing a crowd related to a disorderly person report when they allegedly saw Candelaria hit the police vehicle. He then continued to drive on Hudson Street until the officers were able to catch up and stop him, authorities said.

Candelaria wasn’t able to complete a field sobriety test, and was arrested and transported to headquarters. There, a breath sample found his BAC to be above the legal limit of .08%, police said.
