Basic Natural Soap Making Class

Cold process soapmaking involves creating custom soaps from scratch.  This predominately demonstration class will show you step by step how to make a batch of cold process soap.  During the class you will learn a brief history of soap, safety tips and practicies, how to properly handle sodium hydroxide, the basic chemical process of soap, how to customize your soap batch with color, scents and additives, options for molds and what to do with your soap after it saponifies (chemically changes into soap).

You will take home two batches of soap; approximately 1.5 pounds total.  This is a basic demonstration class.  This class is a prerequisite to advanced cold process soapmaking where you will make your own 2 pound batch of soap with guidance from your teacher.  The advanced class will cover other techniques such as swirling.

Special Notes: A $20 materials fee is due in cash to the class instructor before class. Bring (2)16 ounce glass measuring cups, apron, gloves and a strong bag to take our goodies home in.
