An NJ law firm must defend itself from a suit related to ex-Hoboken Mayor Cammarano, who was arrested weeks after taking office in 2009.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Former Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano gained infamy in 2009 when he was arrested just three weeks into his term as mayor, after having been snagged as one of several political candidates who allegedly agreed to take a bribe in a federal sting known as Operation Bid Rig III.
Cammarano, a young lawyer, pleaded guilty to extortion charges was eventually disbarred. As mayor, he was replaced by Council President Dawn Zimmer, who went on to serve two terms. Cammarano served an 18-month jail term, then went to work as a paralegal.
But he left problems in his wake, including campaign finance charges for the council candidates on his ticket. One of them ended up suing a law firm that had employed Cammarano.
