Fifth Candidate Jumps Into Hoboken City Council Election Field
Another Hoboken councilman is running for re-election in 2023 and has scheduled a fundraiser for this week.

HOBOKEN, NJ — This November, six of the nine seats on the Hoboken City Council are up for election. The elections are non-partisan and won't require a vote in the primaries, but candidates have announced early for the Nov. 7 race.
On Friday, 4th Ward Councilman Ruben Ramos Jr. said he'll run for re-election this year. His kick-off fundraiser is scheduled to take place this Thursday.
Ramos represents the southwest corner of town.

Dear neighbors,
It is with your support that I am excited to announce that I am running for re-election as the City Council representative for Hoboken’s 4th Ward. I am kicking off my campaign with a fundraiser on April 27th at 6pm at Northern Soul restaurant and I hope you can attend!
I'm eager to build on the progress we've already made such as acquiring the Academy site to further expand the Southwest Park, redeveloping the Chambord building with a much needed neighborhood supermarket and continuing our work to improve the traffic flow in SW Hoboken. This is a crucial time for our city and we have a lot to do.
When re-elected, I am looking forward to finishing what we have already begun together including revitalizing the Hoboken Housing Authority, rehabilitating the Multi-Service Center, implementing further flood mitigation efforts, and finalizing plans for the city owned property located at Second and Harrison. These are just some of the important issues affecting our neighbors' quality of life and I'm proud to stand with you in working toward solutions that will make our community stronger and more resilient.
Other Candidates In The Field
Two other incumbent members of the nine-member City Council have already said they'll run for re-election, and they already have at least one opponent each.
In January, Paul Presinzano, who had run unsuccessfully for Hoboken council in 2021, said he'll run for the 1st Ward seat currently held by Michael DeFusco. DeFusco already has said he'll run for re-election. The 1st Ward includes the southern waterfront and train station area.
In the 5th Ward, Liz Utrecho will take on incumbent Councilman Phil Cohen. The 5th Ward includes the northwest section of town.
