Gelato Shop Opens In Hoboken With 48 Flavors Per Day
The new location for NYC-based Il Laboratorio del Gelato has opened in Hoboken, rotating 300 flavors and featuring 48 per day.
HOBOKEN, NJ — The new location for New York City-based Il Laboratorio del Gelato has opened on a prominent corner of Hoboken's main drag, offering 300 rotating flavors of gelato and sorbet and featuring 48 per day.
The parlor opened Friday night at the former longtime location of a newspaper and magazine store, Hoboken Daily News, at Washington and Fifth streets.
Lines formed all weekend to try flavors from milk chocolate caramel to birthday cake to raspberry sorbet.

The shop also has a location in Montclair.
The company was founded in 2002 in Manhattan by Jon Snyder, who spent his summers as a child working at his grandparents' Carvel shop in New York state.

After a career as an entrepreneur and investment banker, he opened the new business.
"We have grown to become NYC's leading restaurant wholesaler [and retailer] for hand-crafted gelato," says the company. "Even with a flavor list approaching 300, we are still continually challenged by discerning chefs and a dedicated retail clientele."
Jon said over the weekend, "We offer 48 flavors daily, which change randomly and seasonally — and even within the day. We make over 300 flavors, and they all get a chance to 'shine' in the '48.'
