Give Me Liberty: Hudson County Shelter Reports 93 Cat, Dog Adoptions

Almost a hundred in-need dogs and cats now have a home, thanks to a Hudson County nonprofit.
Last week, the Liberty Humane Society – which serves Hoboken and Jersey City among other locations - reported that 93 animals were adopted during a free adoption promotion held during the first half of February.
Adopted animals included 54 adult cats and 19 adult dogs, shelter staff stated.

One of the cats to find a home during the promotion, Barry, came from a hoarding situation in Bayonne in early 2015 along with 52 other cats. The feline had been in residence at the shelter for 340 days before the adoption promotion, shelter staff said.
Another cat, a tortoiseshell named Pumpkin, had been waiting to find a home for over 600 days, according to the shelter.

“Thanks to the support of our community, 93 local animals are now celebrating adoption in loving homes,” Executive Director Irene Borngraeber stated. “We are so grateful to our adopters who recognize that each and every pet is deserving of a family.”
