Good, single Hoboken guy of the week #1 by MileSquareDates.com

I recently made a new female friend who, although I hate to say it, is tragically single.  She says that there are no good guys in Hoboken.  I, on the other hand, experience great guys all around this lovely town.  So, this blog series will be dedicated to her, and single women out there like her.  Once a week, I will post an encounter I have with a good single guy.  This is week #1:  Yellow windbreaker

This past week, I joined a running group here in Hoboken.  It was quite cold so all the really intense runners were out.  The weak stayed home.  Except me.  I hadn't ran outside of a treadmill in about 8 months prior.

When I met up with the intimidatingly athletic group, one of the first things they asked me about my running pace.  "Slow" I said.  "My pace is slow".  A man in a neon yellow windbreaker spoke up and said, "Ah, me too.  I usually am behind the group, so if you're slower, you'll see me."  "Great" I thought to myself, relieved.

We started the run, and it was fine.  I wanted to go a little faster, but I was worried of injury.  So ran with yellow windbreaker.  There was a point where we were going up the Steven's campus where I got a little worried.  Up hill is painful for me and I almost wanted to quit.  Yellow windbreaker told me, "Its alright to go slow, but you just cant quit" and so I kept on moving.

We finished eventually and met all the speed demons at the corner.  During our run, I learned that yellow windbreaker had completed 7 marathons.  He had been a member of this running group for 2 years.  And then I realized, that he was just keeping pace with me to keep me encouraged and to keep me going.

We went for beers after the run.  He didn't ask me for my phone number or hit on me in any way.  He just did what he felt the right thing to do was.  He wanted a newbie to feel comfortable and like she could finish a daunting task.  And he was single and from hoboken.  Cheers, good guy of the week!
