Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Hoboken: 'Damaging Winds' Predicted; See Timeline

HOBOKEN, NJ — It's the first day of fall, and the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Hudson County on Thursday morning, saying the primary threat is "damaging winds."
In Hoboken, the prediction calls for wind gusts as high as 26 m.p.h. in the afternoon, as well as thunderstorms.
Skies will be clear at night, but the wind gusts will continue.

Radar Thursday morning showed strong storms heading just north of Hoboken. Rain began around 7:25 a.m.
High tide is at 7:21 p.m., after Thursday's rains are expected to have abated.

Today: "Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Temperature rising to near 75 by 11 a.m., then falling to around 65 during the remainder of the day. Southwest wind 7 to 14 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible."
By Thursday night, clear skies are predicted, but the wind could still gust to 26 miles per hour.
Friday is expected to be sunny.
The Hazardous Weather Outlook says:
"A strong cold front moving through the area today will bring showers and thunderstorms to the area. An isolated strong to severe thunderstorm is possible with the main threat being strong to damaging winds."
