HOBOKEN, NJ — Hundreds of volunteers recently came together in an attempt to make Hoboken a better place to live during 1Day Hoboken, a day of volunteering hosted by Hoboken Grace Community Church.
During the Sept. 24 event, volunteers met at Church Square Park, then spread out throughout Hoboken for the next two hours working on projects for various organizations serving the city, organizers said.
Some participants worked with Generosity Feeds to package over 10,000 meals for families struggling with hunger in Hudson County. Other projects included working with HOLA to help clean up and organize their library, collecting food at ACME to be donated to the Hoboken Shelter, the Hoboken High School to clear out wood and clean up the stage, True Mentors to help clean up their office and organize supplies, the Hoboken Shelter to prep, cook and serve meals, Holy Innocents Church to clean, St. Matthew Trinity Lunchtime Ministry to clean the kitchen and organize the storage room and other local projects with the city of Hoboken such as cleaning the parks.
