Hoboken Appoints Provisional Fire Chief: Anton Peskens
The fire department has been operating without an officer in charge for several weeks.

After operating without an officer in charge for several weeks, the Hoboken Fire Department has a new chief.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer has appointed HFD Battalion Chief Anton Peskens as provisional fire chief, effective June 19.
According to a release, Peskens is currently the Hoboken Fire Department’s most senior battalion chief, having joined the department in 1986 and served as battalion chief since 2011.

Zimmer interviewed all cattalion chiefs prior to selecting a provisional chief, the release stated.
“We are fortunate to have great talent and many qualified leaders in our fire department,” said Zimmer. “I thank Chief Peskens for agreeing to take on this major responsibility for the next several months as we begin the process of identifying a permanent chief to lead the department in the years ahead.”
