Hoboken Church Seeks $2.5M To Repair Jefferson Street Building

A Hoboken church has raised more than $1.5 million in its quest to "honor its past by building its future."

HOBOKEN, NJ — A Hoboken church has raised more than $1.5 million in its quest to “honor its past by building its future.”

As of Monday, St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Hoboken has garnered $1.66 million - more than half of its $2.5 million goal – in an attempt to fund a series of ambitious renovations to their Jefferson Street building.

“While this may sound like a huge amount of money, it is a very realistic goal based on the repairs required,” church organizers state on the St. Ann website.

According to the church’s campaign website, the restoration will be performed in phases.

“Phase 1 will address the exterior of the church which includes the resetting of the tile roof, the replacement of the windows, gutters and pointings and the replacement of the HVAC system, which is currently in progress,” church staff stated. “We will begin with the exterior because it needs to be properly sealed to prevent and inhibit further water leakage into the church, which is the main source of damage to the interior. Phase 2 will address the interior of the church which includes plastering, painting and all the finishing work.”
