Hoboken Coding School Helps Students Get Their ‘Hack’ On

HOBOKEN, NJ — A Hoboken-based computer coding school is teaming up with Major League Hacking to provide an on-site resource for high school “hackathon” events.

The hackathons – which showcase the technological savvy of local high schoolers – offer students a chance to test their skills in a competitive setting. “Out of the box” thinking skills are especially prized, according to Coditum owner Steven Fink.

“Our company began in 2002 with SummerTech, our amazing summer camp,” Fink said. “Quickly we were teaching coding at a higher level than anyone including most universities. Our middle and high schoolers were reaching high levels in just a few weeks and parents had nowhere to turn during the school year.”

“Due to demand we launched Coditum in 2014,” Fink continued. “As a Hoboken resident I knew I had to bring the program to my own community.”

According to a news release from the school, students can form or join a hackathon team and be taught and coached at their Hoboken location. All local and national Hackathon events are free. Coditum will sponsor a team but teams can obtain their own sponsors as well. Teams will compete locally and nationally.
