Hoboken College Student Falls Off Deck Near Frat House
The Stevens Institute student spent several hours laying in a freezing alleyway after falling off a deck, Hoboken police say.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A student at Stevens Institute at Technology was treated for over-intoxication and hypothermia after falling off a deck near a local fraternity house and spending several hours lying in a freezing alleyway on Friday, authorities say.
According to the Hoboken Police Department, the incident took place in the early morning hours near a residence on the 900 block of Castle Point Terrace that houses fraternity members at Stevens Institute.
The partially clothed, “intoxicated” student fell six feet into the snow and remained in an alleyway between two houses until he was found later that morning. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital where he was treated for “over-intoxication and hypothermia,” police said.

Hoboken resident Maureen Schnabolk told Patch that she was walking her dog around 6 a.m. when she found the student and called police.
According to Schnabolk:
“When I exited our home, I heard what sounded like a hurt animal moaning, coming from the space between our house and the Alpha Sigma fraternity. I woke my husband, Eric, and had him accompany me as there is limited light in the alley and I wasn't sure what I would find. We immediately saw a Stevens student who was in the fetal position, head on a large rock, lying in the alley. He had on a hooded sweatshirt, a pair of boxers and socks. He was purple and his extremities were swollen. He was not moving and was barely alert. Every few moments he would let out a groan. As I called the police for help and got throw blankets to wrap him in, Eric tried to wake up members of the fraternity but had no luck. He found the student's clothes in front of the fraternity house between the exterior and interior front doors. It seemed like he had taken off his clothing while suffering from hypothermia symptoms… We were terrified when we found him in the alley, that he would die or be seriously injured.”
