Hoboken Cop Saves Life With Naloxone After ‘Drug Overdose’

Hoboken Police Chief: "Drug addiction and drug overdoses do not discriminate."

HOBOKEN, NJ — Quick action from a Hoboken police officer helped to save a life on Monday, authorities said.

Hoboken police “quickly administered Naloxone” after arriving on the scene of a “drug overdose” on March 26, helping to revive the victim, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante congratulated the involved officer, adding that persistence and three attempts at the use of Narcan saved a woman’s life.

It’s important to know that drug addiction – and the possible need for police aid – can happen anywhere in the city, Ferrante said.

When one social media user asked Ferrante to provide the location of overdoses in the city, the chief provided the following response:

“Because they are med calls, the addresses and the identities are confidential. I can assure you two things, most occur inside people's homes, and they are all over all sections of Hoboken. Drug addiction and drug overdoses do not discriminate. It’s all socio-economic backgrounds.”
