HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken City Council gave a tentative go-ahead to a bond ordinance that would fund Northwest Park on Wednesday, officials said.

According to a statement from the mayor’s office, the Hoboken City Council voted unanimously on first reading for an ordinance to fund the construction of what would become the city’s largest park.

“Hoboken is one step closer to building our five-acre Northwest Park, which will provide much needed open space amenities and flood resiliency to our city,” Mayor Ravi Bhalla stated. “This park will become a model for the rest of the state with modern park features including an ice skating rink, open lawn space, a pavilion, playground equipment, field space, among others, in addition to above and below ground flood infrastructure.”
