Hoboken Election Tidbits: Watch For Flying Mud Before Tuesday
A candidate drops out, endorsements fly, and more updates in the Hoboken City Council election.

HOBOKEN, NJ — In Hoboken's City Council elections Tuesday, you can choose a representative for your ward (there are six wards in Hoboken; see the map here).
We've posted candidate profiles and Q&A's in each ward. Scroll down the list here.
As the campaigns draw to a close, watch for specious attacks in campaign literature this weekend, and head to the local news sites to learn background that's usually more complex than the claims in your mailbox. (For instance, the rent control debate has been covered on five local news sites—including here and here.)

Waiters Drops Out

Of the candidates who filed to run for Hoboken council in six wards, only Patricia Waiters has dropped out. She was running in the 2nd Ward against incumbent Tiffanie Fisher and her challenger, Marla Decker.
Even though Fisher had challenged the veracity of some of Waiter's petitions to get onto the ballot, Waiters endorsed Fisher.
"I put my full support behind Tiffany Fisher because I got an opportunity to talk to a lot of second ward residents that suggested I should really put my focus on the BOE [school board race] where I’m needed, to bring transparency, dignity and respect back to the BOE," Waiters said. "I will bring real diversity and serve all of Hoboken."
(Waiters is running for one of the three open seats on the school board, as is a slate of three other moms; find out more here).
But will Fisher endorse her? Patch sent Q&A's to all of the candidates. Both Fisher and Jennifer Giattino said they'll vote in the school board race, but declined to answer whom they'll support. Most other candidates made endorsements, including Fisher and Giattino's opponents — Marla Decker in the 2nd Ward, and Lauren Myers and Ian Rintel in the 6th. Find out whom they all supported here.
Endorsements Roll In
