Hoboken Expands 'Open Streets' Pilot To Park Avenue, 10th Street

The 'open streets' program will continue Sunday with sections of two more streets restricted to foot and bike traffic.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The city of Hoboken announced late on Friday that it will continue its "open streets" program this coming Sunday by prohibiting cars on sections of Park Avenue and 10th Street, allowing foot and bike traffic and more social distancing.

The sections of Jefferson and Adams streets that were blocked off on previous weekends will be open this weekend.

The specific sections to be blocked off will be Park Avenue from Fifth to Eleventh streets, and 10th Street from Garden to Grand Street.

The hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Traffic control officers will help drivers get to garages on the blocked-off streets.

"The first two weekends served as a great way to spread out without vehicular traffic while walking, biking, and jogging outdoors (congregating, block parties, and lawn chairs on the street are not permitted)," said Mayor Ravi Bhalla.
