Hoboken Gets An Artist’s View Of Russia

Hoboken art lovers got a chance to experience an artist's view of Russia during an exhibit by Valery Yershov at Barsky Gallery.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken art lovers got a chance to experience an artist’s view of Russia during a recent, well-received exhibit at Barsky Gallery by Valery Yershov, a Russian-born, New York City native.

The venue reported a “record turnout” for the opening night of Yershov’s solo exhibition, “Desolated” on Jan. 13, which coincided with Russian Old New Year.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout,” said Albert Barsky from Barsky Gallery. “This is truly a remarkable exhibition and to see it win so much support is wonderful.”

According to the gallery:

“Yershov is known for creating a balance between dream and reality, theatricality, and absurdity while paying attention to fine details. He is also known for playing on the ambivalence of meaning, which has encouraged discussion of his work and helped increase his popularity in the last ten years. This latest body of work consists of 11 original paintings, and limited edition of 30 museum-quality prints.”
