Hoboken Hawk Spotted In City

The bird is believed to be a red-tailed hawk, according to reports.

Hoboken, NJ – A possibly injured hawk has had Hoboken residents snapping photos and wondering about its origin.

The bird – believed to be a red-tailed hawk - was seen perching on trees and fire escapes around First Street last week, according to NJ News 12.

City officials have contacted Millington-based Raptor Trust and Jersey City-based Liberty Humane Society to monitor the situation, NJ.com reported.

Hawk sightings in Hoboken may be rare, but there have been several past instances of birds of prey being seen in the area.

A hawk was spotted in December near Benny Tudino’s pizza restaurant on Washington Street, the Hudson Reporter stated.

Another hawk – which was reportedly seen eating a rabbit on 5th and Sinatra Drive - was featured on Hoboken 411 in 2007.
